ARLENDA is a Spin-off from the University of Liège, created in 2003 by a multidisciplinary team of experts from analytical, statistical and pharmaceutical field of activity.

Arlenda's team comprises statisticians, software developers and a department devoted to quality assurance.

Dr Bruno Boulanger, CEO, Company co-founder

Bruno Boulanger holds a Phd in Experimental Psychology from the University of Liège. After a post-doctorate at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and the University of Minneapolis (USA) in Statistics applied to simulation of clinical trials, he joined Eli Lilly in Belgium in 1990. Since he gathered 20 years of experience in several areas of pharmaceutical research and industry including discovery, toxicology, CMC and early clinical phases. He holds various positions in Europe and in USA. After being the Head of European Early Phases within Eli Lilly driving an European-wide team, Bruno joined UCB Pharma as Director of Exploratory Statistics, contributing the implementation of Model-Based Drug Development strategy and applied Bayesian statistics. Bruno is also since 2000 Senior Lecturer at the Université of Liège, in the School of Pharmacy, teaching Design of Experiments and statistics. He organizes or contribute since 1998 to Non-Clinical Statistics in Europe and setup in 2010 the First Applied Bayesian Statistics conference. He is also a USP Expert, member of the Committee of Experts in Statistics. Bruno has authored or co-authored more than 70 publications in applied statistics.

Timothy Schofield, Managing Director, Arlenda Inc.

Tim Schofield holds an MA in Statistics & Operations Research from the University of Pennsylvania. He joined Merck Research Labs in 1976, where he led nonclinical statistics efforts in support of the development and manufacture of Merck pharmaceuticals, biologics and vaccines. After 32-years at Merck, Tim joined US Regulatory Affairs at GlaxoSmithKline, where he provided regulatory support to vaccines. Tim has held several positions on industry and regulatory committees. He is an active member of the AAPS CMC Statistics Expert Team since 2004. Tim also served as liaison to the PhRMA Biologicals and Biotechnology Subcommittee, where he was co-chair of the Specifications and Formulation Working Group. In that role he led efforts to publish a PhRMA white paper on A Rational Approach for Setting and Maintaining Specifications for Biological and Biotechnology–Derived Products. He is also a coauthor on a PhRMA white paper on Quality by Design for Biotech Products. Tim is co-chair of the USP Statistics Expert Committee and a member of the USP Bioassay Validation ad hoc Panel where he led efforts to write Chapter <1033> Bioassay Validation. He co-edited a special edition of Biologicals on Stability Evaluation of Vaccines, a compilation of papers stemming from WHO implementation meetings in Korea and Geneva. Tim joined Arlenda in 2011 as Managing Director of Arlenda Inc.

Dr Astrid Jullion, CSO

Astrid Jullion holds a MBA from the Louvain School of Management and a master in statistics from the Institute of Statistics of Louvain (Belgium). She obtained there a PhD in the field of Bayesian statistics applied to Positron Emission Tomography and Pharmacokinetic Data and was finalist for the Savage award bestowed by the International Society for Bayesian Analysis. Astrid worked for three years in the Global Exploratory Development department of UCB. She contributed to the implementation of the Model-Based-Drug Development strategy by putting into practice adaptive design, clinical trial optimization, Bayesian Pharmacokinetic modeling in phase I to proof of concept studies. Astrid joined Arlenda in 2010 as head of clinical services.

Francois Moonen, COO

Francois Moonen holds a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Liège, Belgium. Francois has close to fifteen years of experience in project management, HR, sales and company administration. Before joining Arlenda, Francois worked at L'Oréal in Libramont during three years as project engineer, at AGC Automotive in Fleurus during six years where he had different responsibilities. Francois joined Arlenda end of 2005 as Managing Director and member of the Board.

Dr Marion Bouillon-Pichault, R&D Manager

Marion Bouillon-Pichault holds a PharmD from the University Paris Descartes (France). She obtained there a PhD in population pharmacokinetics modeling with a special interest for covariates integration. During her PhD, she particularly focused on paediatric pharmacokinetic evaluation and worked in parallel in the French Network for Paediatric Health Products as a coordinate associate(Reseau d’Investigation Pediatrique des Produits de Sante, RIPPS). Marion joined Arlenda in 2011 as Modeling & Simulation scientist in order to develop the expertise in pharmacometrics and drug development.

Fabrice Nollevaux, Pharmacometrician

Fabrice holds a Master in Biological Sciences and a Master of Advanced Studies in Molecular Biology from the University of Namur, Belgium. Fabrice has 15 years of experience in the statistical and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) analysis and modeling of clinical and pre-clinical data. Before joining Arlenda, Fabrice worked 14 years in the pharmacokinetic group of SGS Belgium, first as pharmacokineticist and for the last five years as Head of Pharmacokinetics and Head of Toxicokinetics. He then moved to ClinBAY as Director of Pharmacometrics. In 2011, Fabrice joined Arlenda as Pharmacometrician to further support and develop the services related to applied pharmacometrics in drug development.

Dr Bianca Teodorescu, Senior Statistician

Bianca Teodorescu holds a PhD in Statistics with focus on Survival Analysis from the Université catholique de Louvain. Before joining Arlenda, she worked for 5 years as teaching assistant in statistics at the Université catholique de Louvain. Bianca joined Arlenda in 2009 as Senior Statistician.

Dr Réjane Rousseau, Senior Statistician

Réjane Rousseau holds master's degrees in biomedical sciences and in statistics from the Université catholique de Louvain. She obtained there a PhD in the field of statistics applied to the analysis of metabonomic data in 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Before joining Arlenda, she worked as teaching assistant and consultant in statistics at the Institute of Statistics of Louvain –SMCS (Belgium).

Pierre Lebrun, Statistician

Pierre Lebrun is finishing his PhD thesis on the subject of the automated development of analytical methods using a Bayesian Design Space approach. He worked for 5 years as a non-clinical biostatistician in an analytical chemistry laboratories at the University of Liège. Pierre Join Arlenda in 2008 as a consultant statistician.

Dr Gaëlle Martin, QA Manager

Gaëlle Martin holds a PhD in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Liège, Belgium in the field of biomarker assays in biological fluids. Before joining Arlenda, Gaëlle worked at Mithra Pharmaceuticals for two years as pharmacist and at the Laboratory of Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Liège, for 6 years where she manages the Quality Assurance Department. Gaëlle joined Arlenda in 2010 as QA Manager.

Mark Denham, QA Associate

Mark Denham qualified as an Electronic Engineer in 2004 from the Dublin Institute of Technology (Dublin, Ireland). He also has a Master's degree in Industrial Science from the Haute Ecole Paul-Henri Spaak (Brussels, Belgium). Before joining Arlenda in 2009, Mark worked in the car industry at Bentley Motors Limited (Crewe, England) in the field of energy management. Here at Arlenda, he is principally involved in the area of Software Validation, and is part of Arlenda's QA department.

Didier Vandermaesen, IT Manager

Didier holds a Bachelor degree in Computer Science from the Rennequin Sualem school of Liège, Belgium.
Didier has close to ten years of experience in Linux administration, software analysis and programming skills mainly in C, C++, PHP, Java and SAS.
Before joining Arlenda, Didier worked at ComGIS as an analyst programmer where he helped developing GIS software and performed migration from a standalone GIS to a web based application.
Didier joined Arlenda end of 2005 as IT Manager.

Cédric Dubourg, IT Analyst Developer

Cédric Dubourg holds a Bachelor degree in Computer Science from the school Saint-Laurent, in Liège, Belgium. Cédric has close to 6 years experience in Java and Web programming mainly in Java, J2EE, JSP's, CSS-Html-Javascript, PHP and CMS's. Before joining Arlenda, Cédric worked for the General IT department of the University of Liege (SEGI) as an Analyst programmer where he helped increasing the visibility of the University by developping CMS websites. Before that he worked for 4 years for the Fortis Bank in Brussels as a single point of contact on various web-banking applications. Cédric joined Arlenda in 2010 as an IT Analyst Developer.
